Manzanita Elementary School

To provide students with an educational foundation for life-long success

Principal's Message

Greetings from Manzanita Elementary School, home of the Dragons…

The staff and I would like to thank you for taking time to visit our website. We are an all-day kindergarten through 5th grade school with an established team of outstanding educators who are committed to our 740 students. I am excited and honored to begin my second year as your principal.
Our Assistant Principal, Ms. Barb Thofson, brings many years of experience in education that will compliment and enrich Manzanita’s Tradition of Academic Excellence.
Manzanita is celebrating its 50th year of educating and developing well-rounded students in a friendly and supportive environment. We offer support services designed to address the individual differences among our learners, and rigorous academic programs including accelerated classes in grades 1-5, Beyond Textbooks, Reading Eggs, Study Island, Accelerated Reader, and Saxon Math. Stay tuned for 50th celebration and reunion information and activities throughout the year.
As you navigate around our website, you will see students enjoying rich opportunities to develop their talents and skills including: choir, drama, 5th grade band, chess club, yearbook club, disc golf, computer club, Art Masters, student council, in-school interventions, and after-school tutoring. We believe that every child can learn, but only with a strong partnership with the school and the student’s family can children reach their full potential. We encourage parents to develop a relationship with their child’s teacher early on. Electronic access to student grades and progress reports can facilitate this, as can your participation in activities such as: in-class and after school presentations, our Fall Festival, recognition assemblies, and various fundraisers. We also invite you to help in your child’s classroom or just come in and say, “Hi”! We would love to see you!
I look forward to another successful year of working with you and your child. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions concerning your child’s education at Manzanita.
