Principal's Message

Welcome to Manzanita Elementary School, Home of the Dragons! 

The staff and I would like to thank you for taking time to visit our website. Manzanita is an all-day kindergarten through 5th grade school with an established team of outstanding educators who are committed to our 770 students.  We have been named an Excelling or “A” school for the past six years. We are also a proud member of Kingman Unified School District #20 in Kingman, AZ. Manzanita has a 51-year tradition of educating and developing well-rounded students in a safe and welcoming environment. Curriculum is based on the Arizona Career and Readiness Standards. We offer many rigorous academic programs designed to address the individual differences and needs of our students including accelerated classrooms in first through fifth grade and a magnet program for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Students and staff utilize a variety of technology resources including Beyond Textbooks, Reading Eggs, Study Island, and Accelerated Reader. KUSD #20 believes in developing the whole child through the Four “A’s”’-- Academics, the Arts, Athletics, and Activities. 
As you navigate around our website, you will see students developing their talents and skills through participation in choir, drama, 5th grade band, Art Masters, student council, in-school interventions, after-school tutoring, chess, yearbook, sign language, and computer clubs. We believe that every child can learn, but only with a strong partnership with the student’s family and school can children realize their full potential. We encourage parents to develop a relationship with their child's teacher by accessing student grades on the internet, attending conferences, concerts, Fall Festival, recognition assemblies, and various fundraisers. When parents attend school functions, they demonstrate to their children that they value education and support their child’s efforts towards academic excellence. We look forward to working with parents and families to ensure another successful and rewarding year!

45/10 SCHEDULE FOR 2015-2016 (click here)
Our new 45/10 schedule begins this summer! First day of school for the 2015-2016 school year will be Thursday, July 30.
You may have noticed that we are requesting identification whenever you pick up your student from the office. We have almost 800 students now and office staff who are new to Manzanita. While we try to memorize as many names and faces as we can, we appreciate your patience when we check identification as safety is always our first priority.
Students who bring in a fundraiser receipt (signed by a parent) will receive 10 Dragon Dollars! (See Upcoming Events for this month's fundraisers!)
EARN DRAGON DOLLARS for paper donations
We will award your student up to 10 Dragon Dollars for any copy paper donations!
1) Go home changes must be called in by 2:00 p.m. or you may send a note with your student in the morning.
2) We cannot accept verbal go home instructions from students.
3) Student may be picked up at the East or West Gate. Office pick ups are for midday appointments and emergencies only.
4) If you need to pick up your student for an appointment, please pick them up before 3:00 p.m.
5) We will not remove students out of class during the last 20 minutes of school - 3:00-3:20 p.m.
6) If you arrive to pick up your student between 3:00-3:20, please wait for the 3:20 bell and meet your student at their regular pick up point.
7) We will not remove students from buses as that creates a delay in departure for all bus riders. Please meet your students at their regular bus stop.
